The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) is a star rating system (out of ten) that rates the energy efficiency of a home, based on its design.It uses thermal simulations to assess potential thermal comfort of home in given Australian Climate.The Rating is measured on scale of 0 to 10 stars.
The better star rating would mean minimal use of Airconditioning need for home in Summers or Winters and hence built for maximum thermal comfort.
NatHERS is administered by the Department of the Environment and Energy on behalf of the states and territories.It is approved to be used in all states of Australia.

Nathers Star ratings can be used by homeowners, builders, certifiers, councils and local, state and national governments
for a number of purposes, including:
- To meet the mandatory energy efficiency requirements for homes and major renovations based on the National Construction Code in Australia.
- By home owners, architects and builders on the energy efficiency of various house designs
- By prospective home buyers on the thermal performance of a home they are interested in buying
There are currently three software tools accredited for use under NatHERS:
AccuRate Version 2.3.3.13(link is external)
BERS Professional Version 4.3.0.2 (3.13)(link is external)
FirstRate5 v5.2.4a (3.13)
The softwares are used by accredited assessors to assess the dwellings comfort. Assessors need to complete Certificate IV in Nathers Certification to provide certificates. At Energia Designs,We are accredited to use AccuRate 2.3.3.13 and First Rate5v5.2.4a(3.13) for assessment. We can assess your plans and provide you Universal Nathers Certificate. We would not just provide you with certificate to meet council requirement but provide you with expert advise to improve star ratings in cost effective manner.
